About Dogs Hope

A Rescue for English and German Shorthaired Pointers - Midland, North Carolina

Dogs Hope is a private, independent rescue

• Status update: We continue to make upgrades to our facilities. We are licensed by the State of North Carolina. Upgrades are ongoing.  We are not taking new dogs into the rescue.  Most of the dogs we now have are seniors or have special needs. We have a few lovely dogs available for adoption to special homes. We advocate for dogs in shelters.

• A major part of our mission is to work with other shelters and rescues.

• Hours are by appointment (send email), during the times of 10:00 am and 6:00 pm. Afternoons (after dogs are fed and exercised) preferred.

• We are not currently bringing new dogs into our program. The dogs we have here have come from local animal control shelters.

• Dogs Hope grew out of a personal mission of.  Judith, into a rather daunting operation. She started in rescue in 1982. Her rescue "took off" when she joined Petfinder in 2003. Dogs Hope has placed more than 200 dogs into loving homes.

• Dogs Hope receives no outside funding (donations are always welcome). See our WISH LIST for ways to help.

• All dogs are spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, wormed, tested and started on heartworm preventative; housebroken or working on it. All dogs receive training. Many of our dogs are seniors, or have special needs. We do try to match dogs with homes that will work out for all.

• Socialization to a normal indoor environment is part of the process of getting them ready for adoption. We test dogs to see how well they get along with other dogs, children, and cats.

• Donations pay for spay, neuter, shots, worming and other medical needs (as well as housing and food).
