Diakonia offers opportunities to explore spiritual enrichment and Christian education in a small class setting. The program is based on a seminary curriculum with 5-week courses taught by pastors. Subjects include study of Old and New Testaments, Christian Ethics, The Early Church and more. Diakonia is a rewarding two year program that will impact your life and transform your understanding of living as a Christian. Classes are held September through June on Monday nights at 7:00 p.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, in Pleasantville. Each class opens with a brief devotions service.

The Diakonia process occurs in three basic ways:

  1. By thorough grounding in the classic seminary disciplines of practical, systematic, historical and Biblical theology;
  2. By identifying particular skills and aptitudes in ministry and encouraging their use in the local parish;
  3. By providing spiritual growth through worship, retreats, and a supportive community of fellow students, mentors and instructors."
