Dr. Diptonil Banerjee is currently working as an associate professor in the department of physics, faculty of engineering, Teerthanker Mahaveer University since 2020. Dr. Banerjee, completed both his graduation and Masters in Physics from University of Calcutta in the year of 2005 and 2007 respectively.

He did his PhD from Jadavpur University on Materials Science and Nanotechnology in the year of 2012. Presently Dr. Banerjee is working on mainly carbon based nanotechnology and related applications. He has also started working on some oxide based nanostructures as well. He is entrusted by the Department of Science and Technology (Gov't of India) with few projects of considerable budget.  

Also he is belonging to the editorial board members of different journals. He is also reviewer of good many numbers of quality journals Currently he is having h index 21 and i10 index 41 with cumulative citation over 1300. He has also authored couple of books in the related field of nanoscience and technology entitled “Nano Science - Concepts and Fundamentals” which has been published from NOLEGEIN (an imprint of Consortium e Learning ISBN: 978-93-87376-77-9) and “Nanomaterial Induced Removal of Textile Dyes from Wastewater” from Bentham publisher ISBN: 978-981-5050-30-1  

Research Activities of Dr. Diptonil Banerjee and group are mainly focused but not limited to 

1. Synthesis of different carbon and oxide based nanostructures and hybrids by different physical and chemical routes

2. Energy storage application of carbon nanotubes, graphene and hybrids

3. Cold Cathode applications of Carbon and Oxide based nanostructures

4. Silicon and Carbon quantum dots as invisible ink 

5. Graphitic carbon nitride as an efficient optoelectronic material

6. Water purification through removal of heavy metals and textile dyes.

7. Soft computational studies on the growth kinetics of thin film
