Lancashire Hussars - Summary (Ex Southport Visiter)

In 1848 a second regiment of yeomanry cavalry was formed in Lancashire - Lancashire Hussars Regiment of Yeomanry Cavalry. The DLOY and LH served continuously and in fact, for a very brief period in 1921, they were combined to form 2nd(Lancashire Yeomannry)Army Brigade Royal Field Artillery.

In May 1921, the Lancashire Hussars were transformed yet again to 106(Lancashire Yeomanry) Artillery. By 1922, the Army HQ at 75 Shaw Street, Liverpool, was well occupied, including the 106th (Lancashire Yeomanry), 423rd and 424th (Lancashire Hussars Yeomanry) - the latter (Howitzer) Field Batteries - all of which became part of The Royal Horse Artillery. 

The Duke of Lancaster's Own Yeomanry were back in role of Divisional Cavalry with 42(East Lancashire) Division with Headquarters at Preston.
