I am an Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Delaware.
My research interests are in normative ethics, political philosophy, social theory, and philosophy of law. I am particularly interested in the problem of political authority & obligation, justifications of democracy, accounts of friendship, the moral significance of disagreement in politics and personal relationships, the varieties of exploitation and alienation in economic relations, the problem of ideology, and accounts of coercion.
Prior to the University of Delaware, I was a Visiting Assistant Professor at Franklin & Marshall College, at Amherst College, and at Binghamton University (SUNY). I have also taught at Haverford College, Cornell University, Auburn NYS Correctional Facility (as part of the Cornell Prison Education Program), and the Governor's School of North Carolina, West Campus.
I also volunteer as a CASA (court-appointed special advocate) for children in the foster care system in Philadelphia.
