Requirement
1. Rice breeding company wants to determine the growth and yield performance of its new hybrid rice varieties such as XY1, XY2, XY3, and XY4 with the consideration of NPK requirements of 209N, 24P and 109K and 120N, 24P, and 95K (40 points).
Required:
a. Prepare a research design to conduct an experiment considering the consideration above. Justify why you choose that design for this study.
b. Prepare the field layout of varieties versus fertilizer application with 5 replications and the process of randomization treatment of the study.
c. What are the parameters to be evaluated to determine the growth and yield performance of the new hybrid rice and how you can gather the data?
d. Prepare dummy tables for Analysis of Variance for each parameter of the study. When the LSD is applicable? What is the use of a CV in the study?
2. How the Strip-Split-Plot Design is developed and how it differs from Split-Split-Plot Designs. Compare the Analysis of the Variance structure of the two designs and see the difference in the structure. Can you give an example of treatment combinations that applies to the mentioned designed (30 points).
3. Using RCBD, analyze the data below using STAR. Determine the F-test, CV, and LSD. Find out the level of significance for F-test and what it means? Find out also the significance of treatment means where treatment differs in each other? Recommend the best treatment and why? (30 points)
