All-Women NPS Lifeguard Tournament; 34th Annual 
Lot E 
Wednesday, July 31, 9 AM - 6 PM
Come and cheer on the women in this exciting annual competition at Sandy Hook. They will be representing beach patrols from the East Coast and elsewhere. These women are outstanding role models and encourage other women to become surf-lifeguards in the future. Fort Hancock Bike Tour
Theater Parking Lot across from the Chapel, Fort Hancock Historic Post
Saturday, August 3, 5 PM - 7 PM
Bicycle with a ranger on a guided tour and learn about everything from gun batteries to beaches. Bring your bicycle and bike helmet. Call 732-872-5970 to make a reservation. ♥ 3 miles.

Twilight Seining
Bayside Beach @ Lot C
Monday, August 5, 6 PM - 7:30 PM
Beach seining involves dragging a large seine net with two poles on each end through the water to catch various marine species. We provide chest waders for all the participants to keep dry while assisting our rangers with dragging the seine net. The participants will have the opportunity to have hands-oninteraction with the animals caught including different types of crabs, killifish, Atlantic silverside, pipefish, shrimp and more! Don't forget to wear good sand walking shoes and bug repellent. Free, call 732-872-5970 to make reservations.

Summer Coast Camp, Grades 6 - 8
American Littoral Society
August 5 - August 9, 9AM - 2 PM
Join the Littoral Society for a week of education fun that includes seining, marine life identification, fishing, crabbing, birding, shelling, field journaling, plankton discovery, coastal botany, and understanding nature through art. Ocean Beach Walk 
Beach Plaza @ Lot D
June 17 through August 26, 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM, Monday, Tuesday.
Come and take a guided walk with a park ranger along the beach, collecting and identifying some of the ocean's natural treasures. Wear comfortable shoes & sunscreen, and bring binoculars and water.
 
Canoe Cruise
U.S. Life-Saving Station Parking Lot (between Lot D and Lot E)
June 27 through August 29, 9:15 AM - 12 PM, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
Take a two-mile morning paddle to explore Sandy Hook bay from an ideal vantage point-the water itself. Rangers guide you on a two and a half hour tour of the bayside waters and Skeleton Hill Island. Go to www.recreation.gov or call 877-444-6777 to make your reservation. Fee-based program.

Paddle around this large island in Jamaica Bay on this trip. Learn about the history of the island and the plants and animals that thrive there. ♥ 4.5 miles.
 
Rockaway Cove Paddle

Rockaway Point and back - this trip, follows the scenic bay shore of Rockaway peninsula along the cove toward Rockaway Point.   ♥ 2 miles.

NOTE CHANGE OF SCHEDULE:  North Channel Bridge Clean-up by Sadhana/NPS slated for 
August 3, from 10 to 12 has been moved to August 24, 10-12.

Explore the little known areas of this historic structure with a park ranger and learn about coastal fortifications and life in the 1800's. Wear sturdy footwear.
