Are you a first time or novice angler? Join NPS rangers in our fishing clinic. We will teach you everything from how to set up your pole, the rules and regulations of fishing in Jamaica Bay and about the fish that live in the waters of the bay! Children will earn a special Jr. Ranger badge for participating.

Horseshoe Crab Festival

Join us for a day of celebrating the annual arrival of the ancient horseshoe crabs to our local shores. Thousands of these amazing creatures will be coming on shore this month to mate. You'll have a chance to get up close and personal with these animals that are older than the dinosaurs.

Get up close and personal with a living fossil. Take an evening walk along Plum Island to look for spawning horseshoe crabs. Wear foot gear that can get wet.

Meet up with a park ranger and learn about the natural history of horseshoe crabs, and why they annually visit Sandy Hook's shores during the full moon phases in May & June.
