Our district needs parents like you! Apply now to become a candidate for a NYC Education CouncilCommunity and Citywide Education Council elections are fast approaching. All NYC public school parents/guardians can apply until March 5th to become an education council member at www.nycparentleaders.orgParents/guardians may apply to the Community Education Council(CEC) community school district where their child is enrolled:Therefore to apply to CEC 22, you must have a child in kindergarten through 8th grade, enrolled in NYC Community School District 22.

Parents/guardians may also apply to the 4 Citywide Councils* :
•Citywide Council on Special Education-CCSE (have an enrolled student with an IEP)
•Citywide Council on English Language Learners-CCELL ( have an enrolled student in a bilingual or ESL program) 
•Citywide Council for District 75-CCD75 ( have an enrolled student in District 75) 
•Citywide Council on High Schools-CCHS (have an enrolled student in high school)
*Please note that candidates for more than one council must rank, on the application, their order of preference for which council they would like to serve. Candidates will be seated on the council they ranked highest and are selected to serve on.

CEC 22 Candidate Forum: The selectors (President, Recording Secretary and Treasurer of the PA/PTA) and the candidates (vetted by the NYC Department of Education as eligible) will be asked to attend a candidate forum, on Tuesday, April 4th at 6 PM at IS 278, 1925 Stuart Street, Brooklyn, NY 11229. Candidates will have the opportunity to address the selectors.

Officers of PAs/PTAs who are candidates in the selection process shall not be eligible to vote: The PA/PTA shall select a member to vote in the place of each officer for the purposes of the selection process.

Selector Voting: The selectors (President, Recording Secretary and Treasurer of the PA/PTA) shall vote April 23rd through May 9th, after receiving unique credentials to enable them to access the online election system.
