Chocolaty Chocolate Chip Cookies

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups white sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour2/3 cup cocoa powder
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)


DIRECTIONS:
 Preheat oven to 350º. F Combine the flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt  In large bowl.  With mixer, beat butter until pale yellow and fluffy.  Add, sugar, eggs, and vanilla and beat again about 1 minute until well mixed.   Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients about a cup at a time but don't overmix at the last addition (just until well combined). Turn mixer to lowest speed and lightly mix in chocolate chips and nuts (if desired). Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or just until set. Cool slightly on the cookie sheets before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.  Makes 3 dozen.
