1 t. peppermint extract
1  cups crushed candy canes,divided
1 dash red or green food coloring

Line an 8 inch square baking pan with aluminum foil or parchment paper.

Combine the vanilla chips and sweetened condensed milk in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir frequently until almost melted, remove from heat and continue to stir until smooth. When chips are completely melted, stir in the peppermint extract.  and candy canes. Add in 1/2 cup of peppermint crumbles and mix thoroughly to evenly distribute candy. Spread evenly in the bottom of the prepared pan.   Add and 2 drops of red food coloring.  Take a knife and swirl it through a drop at a time and swirl just a bit throughout the pan.  If more color is desired, add one drop at a time and swirl some more with the knife.Sprinkle remaining candy over top of fudge.

Chill for 2 hours, then cut into squares. (For a festive touch, use the empty can in a round cake pan. Pour fudge around it to make a wreath. Let cool ..decorate)
