Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Amanda Gillum is in her 6th year of teaching. She earned her Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Texas Christian University. While at TCU, she was a member of the TCU Concert Chorale, TCU Women's Choir, and the TCU Choral Union. Under the direction of the late Ronald Shirey, the TCU Concert Chorale performed a plethora of works from various styles and genres. An Evening of Gershwin with the TCU Symphony Orchestra at the Bass Hall in Forth Worth, Carl Orff's Carmina Burana with the Irving Syjmphony Orchestra, and a tribute to Rogers and Hammerstein with the New York City Pops are just to name a few.
After graduating in 2006, Mrs. Gillum work three years in the Hurst Euless Bedford School District as an junior high assistant choir director. While in HEB, her ensembles earned numerous Sweepstakes and Excellent Ratings under the mentorship of Lorelai Cole.
Mrs. Gillum is in her fouth year at DIS where she teaches 5th and 6th grade General Music and directs the DIS 5th and 6th Grade Honor Choir.
Mrs. Gillum is also a member of Texas Music Education Association and the Texas Choral Directors Association.
Married with six children, Amanda resides in Southlake with her husband who also is a teacher and coach in the DFW area.
