Background information

The International Potato Center (CIP) through its regional office in New Delhi, the CCCAP project in Beijing and together with regional partners proposes a research network to improve potato late blight research and development in Asia.  In this initiative, a consortium of partners would promote standardized procedures, generate practical information on disease management (pathogen population mapping, host resistance, fungicide efficacy and forecasting), implement common and flexible mechanisms for data storage, management and retrieval and monitor progress toward mitigation of late blight-induced losses under current and future climate scenarios. The proposed activities are aggregated into modules which will distribute mid-level management responsibilities and provide flexibility in funding (full Asiablight concept note).
