Short Biography: Dr Dilip Krishnaswamy is currently serving as Vice President (New Tech R&D) at Reliance Industries Ltd., India. He is a Fellow at the Center for the 4th Industrial Revolution (C4IR) at the World Economic Forum. He also serves as the head of blockchain platform engineering. He has a PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Previously, he has worked as a senior scientist at IBM Research, as a senior staff researcher in the office of the chief scientist at Qualcomm, and as a platform architect at Intel, and has taught at the University of California, Davis. He is an inventor on 60+ granted US patents, and has 70+ publications, with 3 best paper awards. His research interests include distributed information processing, distributed function virtualization, distributed resource management, blockchain technology, edge services, NFV/SDN, NB-IoT, AI/ML, IoT/M2M, 5G architecture & systems, AI/cognitive systems, and solutions related to smart cities and smart villages. Of late, he also enjoys exploring computational techniques for gravitational waves data processing. He served as the Associate Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Wireless Communications from 2009-2014. He recently chaired the Pat Goldberg CS/EE/Math best paper competition for IBM Research worldwide (late 2014 to early 2018). He is a B.Tech (electronics and communications engineering) alumnus of IIT Madras. .

Longer Biography: Dr. Dilip Krishnaswamy is currently serving as Vice President (New Tech R&D) at Reliance Industries Ltd., India. He is a Fellow at the Center for the 4th Industrial Revolution (C4IR). He also serves as the head of blockchain platform engineering. Previously, he was a senior scientist at IBM Research in Bangalore. His current research interests include distributed information processing, edge services, blockchain technology, distributed data centers, distributed function virtualization, machine learning, distributed resource management, NFV-SDN, NB-IoT, IoT/M2M, 5G architecture/systems, AI/cognitive systems, and solutions related to smart cities and smart villages. Of late, he also enjoys exploring computational techniques for gravitational waves data processing. He graduated with a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering in 1997 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He received the best paper award for research related to his thesis in the parallel processing area for the 1997 IEEE VLSI Test Symposium. He was a Platform Architect at Intel where he worked on various projects including the Pentium4 processor development, system-on-chip mobile platform architectures (lead architect for Intel's first cellular SoC - PXA800F (HotChips 2003)), and cross-layer wireless multimedia optimizations in the digital home. He taught courses related to parallel computer architecture, and advanced digital systems design, at the University of California, Davis from 1998-2006. He served on the Industrial Board of Advisors for the ECE dept at UC Davis from 2006-2014. Since late 2006, he was a senior staff researcher in the Office of the Chief Scientist at the Qualcomm Research Center in San Diego, California. At Qualcomm, he worked on self-aware platforms, m2m service layer middleware, collaborative wireless nanobots for cancer therapy, Continua healthcare/oneM2M/DTN standards development, wireless distributed computing, parallel wireless communications & concurrent bandwidth aggregation, heterogeneous cooperative techniques, user modeling fordistributed analytics, data-mining, and adhoc heterogeneous tunneled access technologies. He served as the Associate Editor-in-chief of the IEEE Wireless Communications Magazine from 2009 to 2014. He chaired the IEEE comsoc emerging technical subcommittee on Applications of Nanotechnologies in Communications from 2009-2013. He served as an editor for the Journal of Nano Communication Networks from 2011-2016. He received best paper awards recently for COMSNETS 2015 and CoCoNet 2015. He served as the Blockchain Academic Research Program lead for IBM India Research labs. He served as a co-chair for the IoT PIC (Professional Interest Community) at IBM Research. He chaired the committee for the annual Pat Goldberg IBM Research CS/EE/Math best paper competition (late 2014 to early 2018). He is an inventor on 60+ granted US patents, and has authored 70+ research publications. He is a B. Tech (Electronics and Communications Engineering) alumnus from IIT Madras.
