Upgrading Education for Digital Civilization

Great Work Everyone--Link Bundle

posted Dec 12, 2010, 6:24 PM by Abish BOM

Thank you to every single one of you who helped make Digital Revolution a success!  Don't forget to share our Digital Revolution link bundle with everyone you know.  We wouldn't want all the hard work you put into this unforgettable showcase go to waste, would we?  The key to authentic education is longevity--the project lasts longer than the length of the professor's grading.  Hooray!

Again, great job and thank you to everyone!  You're the best!

Socializr Invite

posted Dec 7, 2010, 10:27 AM by Abish BOM

Send out this e-vite to all your friends and acquaintances!

Also, make sure you update your Facebook status about the event sometime this week.  If possible, include a personal message with your Socializr invites so that it doesn't look like spam.

Thanks everyone!  Your projects are fantastic!

Personal Invitations

First, a message from Kristina:
Margaret Weddle made this googledoc with flyers for the event on it. Feel free to use the googledoc to print off flyers or just send the link to those you are inviting.
Here is the link:

Additionally, we encourage all of you to send out personal invitations to everyone you know.  One of the dangers of digital civilization is that it will become too impersonal.  Trust us, a personal invite is much more effective than a mass invite on Facebook.

Thanks for all your efforts guys!  You are great!

Department Chair Contact

posted Nov 30, 2010, 1:52 PM by Abish BOM

We want everyone in the class to contact their own department's chair and ask them to include Digital Revolution in their newsletter to students. Every department has a newsletter, I think. If not, just invite the department chair to the event. Actually, do that anyone.

Obviously, there will be some overlap among departments. So, to keep better track of things, here is a list of departments which have already been assigned a contact.

-Communications: Kristina Cummins
-Psychology: Megan Stern

Declare your department in the comments on Megan's blog post!

Ongoing Publicity Ideas

  1. Make sure you "attend" the Facebook event.  You can invite your friends by clicking on the "+ Select Guests to Invite" button underneath the awesome picture.  It may be a good idea to personally message the people you invite because some people never check their event invitations.
  2. Update your Google sites, or the site you want to be the primary publicity for your project.  We are using these sites to publicize, so make sure that they are worthy of the public.
  3. Post links on your Facebook to things that you have been doing in this class.  You could post links to your blog, a classmate's blog, our Diigo group, or something really cool you found while doing your self-directed learning.
Great work team!
