Welcome to our Digital Heritage Connect Storytelling Project!  This site has been our home base for the the project. You'll find resources, information, project updates and more.
Our participating Slocan Family of Schools are W. E. Graham Community School, Winlaw Elementary, Brent Kennedy Elementary, and Mt. Sentinel Secondary School. Classes from grade 5 through to 7/8 were part of a themed project.
We have celebrated our student videos at a Community Screening Event on November 29th from 12:30 - 2 pm at Mt. Sentinel School Gym. Parents, community members, and District staff were in attendance. We are proud of our project work, the learning innovation, and connections we've established across our schools.
The purpose of our project was to work and learn together across schools in a place-based heritage storytelling project that will engage our learners, improve their social responsibility skills/understanding of diversity, and connect them with their local heritage and culture.
Here is the culminating video, with many thanks to Graham Giles, that describes our project:

Our project was sponsored and funded by Ministry of Education,  Eleanor Rix School of Rural Education at the UBC Faculty of Education, with the support of Linda Farr-Darling and our site coordinator, Pat Dooley. News of grant recipients are posted here. We are fortunate to have this support and interest, and I look forward to working with you and your students!
