Welcome to the JOBFORCE® 'Diary of An eCommerce Project' Tracking Workspace

JOBFORCE Diary of An eCommerce Project
We recently launched this series in the summer of 2011 as a kickoff for our Summer Youth Employment Program.  The reason for this project is to address the deficiency in the career pathway of job seekers who have an interest in pursuing an IT career either as a Web Developer or WEBMASTER , or as a WEB ADMINSTRATOR, or Web Search Marketing Strategist.

We secured initial funding in the amount of $1,000 from private sponsors to demonstrate the feasibility of training career seekers using an actual eCommerce website, domain, and work project.  The goal was to obtain a return on investment, create jobs, and help the career seekers gain a valuable insight into the eCommerce industry.

We felt that by creating an Work Project page for this to document our successes, failures, and other challenges might be a teachable moment on our path to obtain WIA approval for an eCommerce class.

Project at a Glance:

Create an Electronic Commerce (eCommerce) website that makes money, creates a few jobs, and returns the capital to the initial investors. Specifically we aim to:
  • Complete Our Goals By Year End (December 31, 2011)
  • Create 5 jobs
  • Sell the Business by 12/31/2011
  • Reach Net Revenue of 300% or $3,000!
  • Keep Start-up Cost at $1,000!
  • Attract and Retain Community Involvement for domain at: http://www.sportstown.us
