Dai-Hai TON THAT is currently a research scientist at Earth System Science Center in The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH). His main research interests lie in database systems, data mining, database kernel, spatio-temporal databases, big data, privacy in user-location, mobile distributed computing, computing reproducibility, execution data provenance, embedded systems and programming languages. Dai-Hai TON THAT is a guest editor of IEEE J-STARS and also the chair of the Databases in Remote Sensing Working Group (DBRS WG) of the IEEE GRSS ESI Technical Committee. He serves in organizing scientific workshops, special sessions and special issues in GRSS ESI aiming at connecting database experts and remote sensing domain specific scientists.

Before joining UAH, he had been a postdoctoral researcher at the College of Computing and Digital Media (CDM) at Depaul University, USA since 2017 to 2020. Prior to DePaul, he received his PhD degree in computer science from Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines University in January 2016, under the supervision of Prof. Karine ZEITOUNI and Assoc. Prof. Iulian SANDU-POPA. Next, he started his first 1-year postdoc at CEA at CEA-LIST Institute, CEA-Saclay, Paris Saclay University, France (i.e., from 2016 to 2017).

He had also worked around 4 years at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Ho Chi Minh city University of Technology (HCMUT) as a lecturer. He got his Bachelor and Master degrees in Computer Science at HCMUT in 2008 and 2011 respectively.
