About Me

Carrie Bellis, Second Grade Math Teacher

I grew up in Southern California where I attended the University of California at Irvine on an athletic scholarship for swimming.   Upon earning a bachelor degree in Social Ecology I enrolled in the Multiple Subject Teaching Program at California State University Long Beach.  After 11 summers of lifeguarding and 5 years of teaching in my hometown of Long Beach, I decided it was time for a change and moved to Colorado.  I love my new home state where the outdoor activities I enjoy are right at my fingertips.  I have just completed my 6th year teaching for Denver Public Schools and am very excited about being a part of the DGS family.

Karen Goodman, Second Grade Reading Teacher
I grew up here in Denver and although I have tried a couple of times, can't get out of Colorado! I love it here. I attended the University of Colorado in Boulder and then lived and taught in Northglenn for five years before moving to the mountains for a bit. While there, I taught third through fifth grades and worked as a reading teacher in the Steamboat Springs School District. I am happy to be back in the city although often find myself in the mountains on the weekends skiing, riding my bike or running on my favorite trails. This will be my fifteenth year teaching in elementary education... time flies when you're having fun!!
