Tomorrow the south Minneapolis DFL coordinated office is having two amazing canvasing shifts:10AM-2PM and 2 -6PM. Each shift will include a brief training to get you prepared! The election is only a few weeks away and we need to make sure every last democrat in the metro area is planning to vote. Working on this campaign has been a great experience that you DON'T want to miss. Senator Franken asked us all to take ownership of this campaign and that's exactly what's happening.
If you're on the fence and looking for one more reason to show up this weekend, Governor Dayton will be in the office at 2PM to rally the troops! Come on down and help elect the DFL ticket this November!
What: Volunteer Canvasing
Where: 2410 E 38th St (5 blocks west of Hiawatha on 38th)
When: Two shifts, Saturday 10AM-2PM and 2-6PM
Who: YOU! YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY! GOV. DAYTON!
Why: Protect our progressive future in Minnesota. Help elect DFL candidates this November!
As you are well aware, we have 36 days until Election Day and now more than ever, we need your help in turning out Democratic voters. We all remember 2010: an electorate split between unengaged, uninterested liberals and quite angry, fired up conservatives. We remember the fallout of that Republican wave year – Chairman Oberstar’s defeat, a narrow victory for Governor Dayton, and worst of all, the loss of majorities in the House and Senate. All of you remember quite clearly the implications of a Republican-led legislature – divisive, intrusive amendments and the stripping away of all the progress gained. Crystallized in my mind is the terror I felt when I heard the Republicans were fighting amongst themselves on whether to bring the Right to Work issue to the House floor.
I don’t need to remind you of all this – you were there! But we cannot afford to again see the gigantic progress we’ve made stripped away. Right now on the doors I hear people tell me they don’t think they’ll vote – they can’t even provide a good excuse in many scenarios. If our people stay home statewide, and especially in your metro districts, we will lose. You know this.
But there is good news too. Now more than ever, people are getting engaged. The folks that tell me they won’t vote get an Absentee Ballot request put in front of them and they are filling it out – their excuses melt away. We need your help in the last 36 days to join us on the doors and in apartment buildings in your districts, to engage and invite your volunteers to come with us, to get the word out about early voting and vote by mail, and to communicate whenever possible the urgency of this election to supporters and neighbors.
Can you join us for a GOTV preview to learn how we can best coordinate our efforts? I will be joined by GOTV Director Susy Bates and former GOTV director and current Chief of staff for the Governor, Jaime Tincher. We are holding two meetings in the next week, we hope you can join us at one of these, see details below:
Please RSVP by Thursday, October 2nd to me indicating which event you are able to attend. If you have campaign staff that would benefit in attending, please include their names in your RSVP emails.
Thank you for all the work you are already doing in your districts. We need to do everything we can in these last few weeks to ensure our victory. We look forward to seeing you.
