About Mrs. DeYoung
"If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in."
-Rachel Carson

I began my journey to TEACHING at Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, MI. It was there that my love for science and teaching grew.  I had some incredibly inspiring professors at Cornerstone and before I knew it all I wanted to do was learn more about the world that we live in.

I've always loved the outdoors.   When I was growing up you could usually find me floating around in a small lake up north naming every single turtle that I had found.

Throughout high school and college I helped lead several backpacking trips throughout northwestern Wyoming.  Nothing can take your breath away like a sunrise over the mountains.

Being outdoors refreshes and excites me. Spending time exploring and learning about God's green earth is where I belong and I hope to pass MY passion for the the great outdoors on to my students.

I live in Rockford with my husband of 5 years who is also a teacher. He is constantly inspiring me to be the best teacher that I can possibly be.

We have three beautiful "children" - a Chow/Shepard named Dakota, a toy Aussie named Maggie, and a very sweet cat named Chester who is ALWAYS getting into trouble.
