Developmental Writing Course Descriptions

All students must complete the Directed Self Placement exercise before enrolling in a first year composition course.

Engl 1A

A remedial student may choose through the Directed Self Placement exercise to enroll in English 1A.  Enrolling in English 1A does not change the student's status as remedial and all policies for remedial students will apply until that student passes English 1A.

Engl 1AF and Engl 1AS  (Stretch English 1A)

This two semester sequence of courses completes the requirement in developmental English as well as GE Area A-2 English 1A.  A student must complete both semesters to complete remediation.  These courses cover the content and expectations of English 1A over two semesters and provide developmental writing students extra time and support to achieve the goals.

NOTE:

As of Fall 2016, LLD 1 and LLD 2 will no longer be offered.  Beginning in Fall 2016, students will use Directed Self Placement to choose either English 1A or English 1AF/S (stretch English 1A).
