About us

This site has been constructed by members of Wildlife Aware Nature Club (WANC) of Tumkur.

Although there is a website dedicated to WANC and its activities, there was no specific site to project the information of Devarayana Durga state forest. This novel idea of creating a website for Devarayan Durga was concieved by the following three WANC members while they were conducting diffraction grating experiment in the physics laboratory of their Engineering School (SIT, Tumkur). They were supported by a host of people who have worked in DDSF for a long time and members of Merlin Nature Club, Banglore and Sri.Harish Bhat, researcher with IISc, Bangalore.

Wildlife Aware Nature Club, WANC - as it is popularly known, was established in 1990. The first organization to be formed in Tumkur District for the cause of nature and wildlife conservation, WANC today is considered as the most active & dedicated environmental NGO in this region. Working at grassroot level and carrying the message nation wide and internationally, WANC is an example on what small voluntary NGOs can achieve.

The site was moved from its original hosting space and reconstructed by senior WANC member Ameen Ahmed.
