THE SD308 GERMAN PROGRAM

In 2008, SD308 hired me, Frau Anna Hog to start the German Program in Oswego, Illinois. I accepted the challenge and have enjoyed working in this district ever since! My students and their families have been amazing and very supportive!!! I have learned a lot from them. I hope they will find life long enjoyment from their learning experiences with German and the German culture. 

German is a very interesting language with many dialects. The German speaking nations are full of history, culture and tradition. As many German students can confirm, there is a lot to learn, but it is fun and opens lots of opportunities. Several Oswego students have continued their experiences through a 13th year, internships, or University in German-speaking countries (which is a fraction of the cost of US University costs!). 

As always, I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experiences with my students and their families in the upcoming year. I look forward to meeting each new student and their family. Together we can make this a wonderful learning experience. 

2008 was the start of German Club (DeutschKlub). 2011 we had our first students inducted into the German National Honor Society. GNHS has taken on the leadership role of our program! They are making positive changes by leading German Club, activities, events, and fundraisers. They are making sure we are seen in the community. In 2022 SPARKinderKlub was created!! SPARKKinderKlub allows all primary students to start learnign the German language and culture in a fun and interactive hands-on way.
