Help Sierra Club protect Detroit's water!
Let's stop combined sewage overflows and stormwater pollution by encouraging the use of green infrastructure solutions at the individual, neighborhood, and city levels. Green infrastructure refers to anything that helps prevent rain water from going down the storm drain (i.e. rain barrels, rain gardens, trees, and much more).

This picture shows what Detroit's rooftops would look like if they were transformed into "green" roofs.
Green roofs are designed to support rooftop grasses and plants that can capture and use rainwater. In urban areas they can also reduce the heat absorbed by tar or asphalt roofs.
