Scottish Water DOMS Update - April 2020 SW are continuing the use of their online DOMS Refresher
course (normally used for SW staff only) and Computer Based Learning (CBL) for
an interim period.
During
this interim period, currently up to 31st January 2021, (though
likely to be extended), anyone sitting the e-learning course will be
awarded a SW DOMS card, but only for a period of one year for new candidates.

valid until 23rd April 2021, and once face to face training is
undertaken, the card would be valid from today, 24th April 2020
until 23rd April 2023.

These courses are run via ZOOM and normal card registration of 3 years applies.
NEWS - March 2020 COVID 19 ADVICE FOR
CLIENTS
Please
be aware that DATS Ltd takes the welfare of our clients very seriously and, considering
the current situation, we are issuing the following guidelines in line with
advice from the Scottish and Westminster Governments, NHS and WHO.
General
Guidelines for individuals as per the Government Guidelines below:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance/stay-at-home-guidance-for-people-with-confirmed-or-possible-coronavirus-covid-19-infection
NHS:

World
Health Organisation:
https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/advice-for-public
CANDIDATE INFORMATION:
For
individuals participating in training, we ask that you continue to adhere to
the above guidelines, with precautionary measures highlighted below:
- If you
have any symptoms that could potentially be Covid 19 we ask that you do
not attend training and instead re-book once you are well
- Wash your
hands more often than usual, for at least 20 seconds using soap and hot
water, particularly after coughing, sneezing and blowing your nose, or
after being in public areas where other people are doing so. Use hand sanitiser
if that’s all you have access to
- Always wash
your hands when you get home or into a place of work
- To reduce the
spread of germs when you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth and nose with a
tissue, or your sleeve (not your hands) if you don’t have a tissue, and
throw the tissue away immediately. Then wash your hands or use a hand
sanitising gel
- Clean and
disinfect regularly touched objects and surfaces using your regular
cleaning products to reduce the risk of passing the infection on to other
people
- Try to avoid
close contact with people who are unwell
- Do not touch
your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean
Again, we ask that
anyone who has any symptoms or who has been potentially exposed to Covid 19
does not attend training and waits until the self-isolation period has passed
before re-booking.
TRAINING BEING HELD AT
DATS LTD
In
addition to our regular cleaning regime at DATS Ltd we are taking extra
precautions while this situation is ongoing.
These include but are not limited to:
- Regularly
disinfecting frequently touched surfaces: e.g. light switches handles,
toilets
- Providing
antibacterial soap, handwash and gel and fresh towels for clients
- Wiping down
desks/tables and chairs with anti-bacterial gel
TRAINING BEING HELD AT
EITHER CLIENT’S PREMISES OR EXTERNAL VENUES
- Please ensure the
guidelines advised by the government and NHS are adhered to with regards
to hygiene in the venue where the training in taking place
- Please ensure that
adequate space is available for candidates to avoid be in close proximity
with each other (general guideline is 2m between each person). This may mean you have to either use a
larger room than you normally would for training or for larger groups that
you split the training over more than one session
DATS
Ltd does charge a per person rate rather than per day so we will do our best to
accommodate you if you need to spread training over multiple dates without
additional costs to you.
- Please ensure that
no candidate who is presenting any symptoms attends training dates. We are happy to offer additional dates
to make sure all your staff are trained when they are well enough to
attend
CLIENT CANCELLATIONS
- Whilst normally
cancelling at short notice would incur cancellation charges as per our
Terms and Conditions, for the duration of this crisis DATS Ltd will waive
short notice cancellation fees. Please try to give as much notice as
possible
- Our primary concern
is that our clients are safe and well and that no risk is created in the
safe provision of potable water to the public so we would rather anyone
who is unwell or in a higher risk category re-schedule training without
worrying about additional costs than put themselves and others at risk by
participating when they should be self-isolating
COURSE CANCELLATION BY
DATS LTD
- DATS Ltd considers
the safety of the clean water system to be essential in normal situations
but even more so during times of increased public health concerns. This means that we will endeavour to
continue offering training in mandatory schemes until such time as we are
advised not to continue by government advice or by advice of the
administrating body for schemes
- However, if any of
our trainers, staff or immediate family members are presenting with
symptoms we will advise our clients immediately in order to either
re-schedule training at an appropriate time or allow them to organise
training elsewhere
- If we are unable to
carry out any booked courses at short notice and you need the training to
be carried out ASAP, we will do our best to assist you to find another
course
