ANDREW FOWLER was born in Fayette county, Pennsylvania, Aug. 8, 1838. His parents died when he was a young man, having just arrived at the age of twenty-one years. In 1861 he emigrated to Fayette county, Indiana, and on the breaking out of the war he enlisted in the 16th Indiana Infantry, serving the full term of that regiment -- one year. On his return in 1862, he was wedded to Miss JULIA A. MECAN. [Sic - McCann]
In 1868 he removed to Elkhart county, where he resided nine years, and from there he removed to a farm lying north of Oswego, in this county, known as the McCaully place, where he lived for eleven years. From there he removed to the place where he died, known as the Gibson property.
The deceased was the father of ten children, five of them preceding him to the Spiritland. The widow and five children still survive to mourn their great loss, but which it is hoped will be his eternal gain. Funeral sermon was delivered by the Rev. L. Stoneburner, there being a large attendance of neighbors and friends.

ANDREW FOWLER (Derry) died at Kosciusko County, Indiana.
1896 Julia A. Fowler filed for widow's pension.
Says, "about 3 years ago, I made application for a pension soon after my husband's death (latter part of December 1893) and as I understood the papers were forwarded to Washington - (on the forepart of January 1894 I received shortly afterwards a card from the department notifying me of the filing of the same. I never received any papers from the department in reference to that application, only that card and that was about my house for a while, but it is now lost. I have made diligent search for it, but I have failed to find it. I thus made a new application. This is all I know of the matter) - Not hearing anything of my 1st application and not receiving a pension, I then made application again last May..." (affidavit further says that she has no property, real or personal or mixed, nor has she any primary interest in any property. "All the income I have is just what earn from week to week and nothing now."

*Note: This just MUST be the same ANDREW DERRY (Fowler) -- and I believe all the more strongly now that JAMES McCANN's wife, BARBARA DERRY, was a sister to BAZIL, and daughter of "Old Molly Derry" the fortune-teller. Another sister, RHODA DERRY (1804-1875), who married JACOB ISENHOUR, traveled to Connersville, Fayette County, Indiana with her children, via the Ohio River on flatboat "to be with family", after JACOB died in 1849 in Brownsville during a cholera epidemic.
Brother/cousin (?) JACOB DERRY (1795-1877), who married RACHEL BRIGHT(1797-1860), also left Fayette County, PA for Indiana after the 1820 PA Census and then moved on to Adams County, Illinois after the their youngest child was born in 1835/37. This youngest son was named JAMES McCANN DERRY (Darry).
