Barbara Rosanna Derry Gates

The way the GATES line connects is that "old BAZIL DERRY (1793-1879) had a daughter named BARBARA DERRY (b-1818) and she married a man by the name of JOHN CUMMINGS GATES. They all lived up in the mountains in the same area.

Lady in the black dress with her hair pulled back in a bun and seated in a chair is MARTHA JANE SWANEY (1851-1914) who married MELCHI DERRY (1844-1912). Melchi was Bazil's (1843-1917) brother and also another son of Jacob-1816 and Nancy.
