Derek Law has spent forty years working in Higher Education in the UK. He is an Emeritus Professor at the University of Strathclyde, from where he retired in November 2008. He continues to lecture, teach, write and act as a researcher and consultant and chaired the Board of the JISC Advance company until it was absorbed into the new JISC in 2015. A great deal of time is spent reviewing and evaluating projects for the EU.
He is a Board member or Trustee of several charities concerned with the provision of information in developing countries and the history of the Royal Navy.
