Denis Regnier
Anthropologist

Welcome to my personal pages! The aim of this website is to provide information about my research and easy access to my writings.

My scholarly interests span the anthropology of Madagascar, East Africa, the south west of the Indian Ocean, Borneo and the Austronesian world. My research is concerned with a wide range of issues, notably kinship, marriage, post-slavery, cognition, learning, education, naming systems, healing, funerary practices, ancestorhood, rural livelihoods, development, environment and local politics. Because of my philosophical background I also have an enduring interest in the philosophy of social science.

I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at the
F.R.S.-FNRS in Belgium. I lecture in anthropology at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, hold a visiting fellowship in the LSE Department of Anthropology and occasionally teach at the Faculté des Lettres et Sciences Humaines of the Université d'Antananarivo.
