These are drop-in Meditation Groups and you are welcome to attend whenever convenient and stay for as long as you like.

               Meditation requires no extensive training, preparation or effort. It is simple, easy and anyone can do it. A basic commitment of a few minutes a day can make a real difference in a person’s life by helping to clear the mind and reduce stress.

                The best way to learn about meditation is for someone to show you what to do and how to do it. The Ridley Township Public Library offers a free Basic Meditation Workshop led by Rich Conti from the Schoolhouse Center Meditation Group. In 1 hour you will learn how to practice meditation on your own, at home. These free workshops are scheduled on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. We meditate while sitting comfortably in chairs. Please consult the Calendar for the dates.

                 Group meditation is an excellent way to strengthen your individual meditation practice. The Library hosts a monthly Meditation Group which meets for 2 hours on the third Saturday of the month. It begins at 1 pm with basic meditation instruction suitable for people with no prior meditation experience, or for people who need a refresher. Then there are timed periods using various meditation techniques such as silent meditation, recorded guided meditations or music. There is no single meditation technique that is right for everyone. But there is a technique that will work for everyone. It can be very helpful to experience various techniques to see which one is best for you.

                  There is also time for individual meditation instruction. There are several participants who have substantial meditation experience. They are a good resource for beginners who might have questions or need guidance.

                  We meditate while sitting comfortably in chairs. You do not have to stay for the entire session.

                  If you prefer using a meditation cushion, please feel free to bring it along. There is plenty of floor space.
