A.F.I.T.’s Purpose:

This organization is a local parent-school unit organized under the authority of all members of this organization affiliated with Deer Point Elementary School

A.F.I.T.’s Objectives:

The objectives of the organization are:

a.  To develop between parents, educators, and the general public such united efforts   that shall secure for every child the highest advantage in physical, mental, social and emotional education. 

b.  To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, and community.

c.  To promote adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth.

d.  To bring the home and the school into closer relation, so that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the training and education of the child.

e.  To initiate money-raising activities for the support of the school, activities, and services not ordinarily financed by the school budget.

Duties of the Board

President. The President shall preside at all A.F.I.T. meetings and the Executive Committee; shall perform such other duties as may be prescribed by the Bylaws or assigned to him/her by the organization or by the Executive Committee; shall coordinate the work of the officers and committees; and shall serve on the School Advisory Council (SAC) in order to promote the Objectives of the Bylaws.

Vice President. The Vice President shall attend all A.F.I.T. meetings; shall act as an aide to the President; shall perform the duties of the President in the absence or inability to serve; and shall perform any other duties assigned to him/her by the President or Executive Committee.

Secretary. The Secretary shall record the minutes of all meetings of the organization and of the Executive Committee; shall list all standing committees, all fundraising committees, and provide them to the President; shall keep an active membership roll; shall notify officers, committee members, and delegates of their election; shall provide DPES administration (front office) of notices of general and/or special meetings; shall compile and keep a record of current organization and school events and activities, to be presented in the form of an annual report at the final meeting; and shall perform such other duties as may be delegated.

The Treasurer shall be responsible for any money that is received by the organization; shall keep an accurate record of receipts and expenditures; shall pay out local funds in accordance with the approved budget as authorized by the organization. The Treasurer shall present a financial statement at every meeting of the organization and at other times when requested by the Executive Committee or President and shall make a full report at the final meeting. The Treasurer’s accounts shall be examined annually by an auditor and/or auditing committee of not less than three members, who, satisfied that the Treasurer’s annual report is correct, shall sign a statement of that fact at the end of the report. The auditor or auditing committee shall be appointed by the Executive Committee at least one month before the final meeting. A.F.I.T. will comply with the Bay District Schools internal accounts budget reporting.Volunteer Coordinator. The Volunteer Coordinator shall be responsible for recruiting volunteers for all needed areas including but not limited to school functions, fundraising efforts, and classroom needs. Shall assist with promotion of school functions as needed.
