Terry Haindfield- Retired Wildlife Biologist and Andy Nimrod- Director of Decorah Parks and Recreation. Learn how, when and why the Decorah Community Prairie was developed, its present condition and vision for its future.
PRAIRIE RECONSTRUCTION vs RESTORATION
Laura Fischer Walter from the Tall Grass Prairie Center at UNI will talk about seed sources for prairie restoration and the role of the TPC in developing and supporting a diverse native seed supply. Stories about observations in the production plots included.
PRAIRIE INSECT LORE
Robin Oanes will show photos taken on her own two acre prairie to acquaint folks with what they may see at the Butterfly Garden and Prairie Open House in July and more.
PRAIRIE / BUTTERFLY GARDEN OPEN HOUSE / TOURS: 4-5 pm at Community Prairie.
Guides: John Kraus and Jerri Osenga. Groups will form to tour the Butterfly Garden and larger prairie.

Ross Evelsizer, RC&D Watershed Planner and GIS Specialist, explains how watershed managers and conservationists are turning back time by utilizing prairie plantings to help protect surface waters, and decrease flooding and erosion and why farmers are seeking to emulate prairie systems.
Narrated Slide Show: POLLINATORS and BUTTERFLIES of IOWA
Larry Reis, Winneshiek County Conservation Board Naturalist will feature photos of common pollinating bees, wasps, flies, and butterflies, with special emphasis on monarchs.
