DEB Course

Prior to the DEB symposium there will be a DEB course. This course will have a part in Lisbon (Portugal) from April 4th to April 12th.

Registration for the course is made together with that for the symposium (soon fees will be posted here). Registration for the course will include: lectures, lunches and coffee breaks, course dinner and excursion. These fees will not include travel, housing and dinners.

Wireless internet access

A temporary wifi account was created for DEB Course and Symposium (valid from 2011-04-04 to 2011-04-16)

Login credentials:

               Username:   DEB2011

               Password:   will be given at the course/symposium

Instructions for temporary conference participants:

1. Browse available wireless networks and select as SSID 'eduroam-guest';

2. Set IP to automatic (DHCP). This is usually the default setting, so you may probably skip this step;

3. Open your browser and try to access any external website. You will be automaticaly redirected to the page  https://wifi.ist.utl.pt/index_auth.php. Follow the link 'Web based login' at the top of the page concerning short-time, conference and meetings accounts. Enter the above username/password when requested;

4. After step 3 you may freely browse and access the Internet. You may need to repeat the above steps if you close your browser or if the connection times out.


Course dinner

Friday, 8th April at Cervejaria da Trindade Chiado by 19:30. The meeting point will be at the exit of the Baixa-Chiado metro station at 19h15. You can find the location of the restaurant here.


Saturday excursion

Saturday's afternoon excursion consists of walk through some of Lisbon's emblematic places. You wil have the opportunity to learn a little bit about the city's policy for environment and quality of life, in one of the most interesting contemporary gardens of Lisbon - the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation Gardens. You will hear about the XVIII century reconstruction of Lisbon and walk next to the river Tejo to Belém - the historic point from which the Discoveries' ships would set sail in the XV and XVI centuries. There you will also have the chance to taste one of the most special portuguese delicacies, the "Pastel de Belém".
