Policy Debate: A form of debate in which teams of two advocate for and against a resolution that typically calls for policy change by the the United States federal government.
This year's resolution (2015-2016): Resolved. The United States federal government should substantially curtail its domestic surveillance.
What do students do?: Debate meets on Mondays and Wednesday during enrichment/after school. During this practice time, students complete research and construct arguments relating to the year's topic with the goal of persuading judges evaluating the debate that their position is superior to their opponents'. Debate is an activity that is based on the presentation, analysis, and refutation of evidence.
