Sept. 5 Unplanned Movie Showing Dubuque County Right to Life, 2205 Carter Road, Dubuque, IA 52001
 6:00pm - 8:00pm

The Unplanned Movie overcame censorship and media bias to shock Hollywood this past spring. It also spurred a 30% INCREASE in participation at 40 Days for Life vigils! Planned Parenthood and abortion industry supporters were unhinged by this movie. The reason was simple – Unplanned shows two abortions. The film’s success – both at the box office and on the streets – is a testament to the short life of the little boy who inspired the movie but will never be able to see it. The 13-week-old baby boy who was aborted right before the eyes of Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson is the reason this movie exists. He changed her heart. He changed everything. The scene depicting the end of this little boy’s life is unforgettable. And it’s a reminder that even the shortest life – unwanted, unknown, and unloved – has meaning.

Sept. 14National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children

In honor of the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children, we encourage you to please take some time to say the below prayer to help humanize our aborted brothers and sisters and to deepen your own commitment to ending the injustice of abortion. You are also encouraged to carry on the spiritual mission of the Day of Remembrance throughout the year by visiting the memorial site that DCRTL has in Mt. Olivet Cemetery to offer prayers of mourning for the victims of abortion.

Almighty Father, we pray today to remember those precious unborn babies whose lives were cut short because our nation failed to recognize their value and to protect them.

We thank you for the beautiful words Our Lord Jesus spoke in His Sermon on the Mount: “Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” And so we do mourn the loss of so many unborn lives. And yet we find comfort in your love and compassion and in our conviction that Jesus loves the little children.

We pray that these victims of society’s callous policy of expediency are now safe in your loving arms, and that they know that we love them, and mourn that they never had the opportunity to show the world who they are.

Lord, we know that at this very moment, in abortion clinics all over America, precious unborn babies are in danger of a horrendous death. We pray in fervent hope that someone will intercede for these little ones to spare their lives. But in the event their mothers choose abortion, we pray that you, as Father of all, will take these little ones into your arms.

Lord, we pray for our nation, that with Your grace and the tireless work of those of us who value each and every human life, the United States will reject abortion and become a country that appreciates and welcomes every child, no matter the circumstances of his or her conception.

We pray for the mothers of these babies that they come to recognize the tragedy of the choices they made and to turn to you for forgiveness and healing.

We pray for the fathers of these babies that they mourn the loss of their fatherhood and the duty they had to protect their children, and that they turn to you and ask for forgiveness.

We pray for the doctors, nurses and clinic staff involved in the death of these babies, that they turn away from the abortion industry and open their hearts to learn compassion for the innocent unborn victims of abortion.

On this day, Lord, more than forty years after the sad day that Roe v. Wade legalized the killing of unborn babies, we ask You to give us renewed energy and hope that our nation will once again know a day when all life is sacred and protected in law.

We ask all these things in the name of your Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen

The Life Chain is a national effort with thousands of cities participating. It is a peaceful, prayerful witness to our belief in the sanctity of all human life. We will be praying for the millions of victims of abortion and all women in unplanned pregnancies that they receive the good help that they deserve. We will pray for all public officials, and for a deeper respect for the ill, the handicapped and the aged. You need not address anyone, just stand holding a sign with a message you choose. Stand up for life with tens of thousands of pro-lifers throughout the US and Canada.
Oct. 9National Pro-Life Cupcake Day!

Cupcakes are such sweet and fun things to have at events and for people that are cared about, especially for birthdays! With this in mind, we want to help others realize not every child has the chance to have a birthday because of abortion, and that we care about them. October 9th is the national day to recognize the babies and raise awareness about the issue of abortion and the impact it is having. By using cupcakes we are able to reach out to the general public in a warm, non-confrontational way and use it as a segue to raise awareness, start conversation, and potentially educate individuals about issues that would ordinarily be suppressed to silence. So bake cupcakes and hand them out at school or in the community!

Oct. 15Pro-Life Day of Silent Solidarity

Are you willing to give up your voice for one day for those who have no voice? Students from all around the country will stand in solidarity with those 4,000 American citizens silenced against their wills through abortion on this day. We ask all local student pro-life groups to participate. Wear a red arm band and remain silent for the day. If anyone asks you why you are silent, hand them a flyer (they can be picked up at DCRTL) explaining that your silence is a voice for the 1/3 of your generation that will never have a voice. Please speak to school staff and teachers in advance to let them know you are participating in this event. Others can join in the silence too! Take a silent lunch. Choose just one hour sometime during the day to remain silent. Whatever it may be, choose a time to be silent, to honor the babies who have been silenced through abortion.

Oct. 22National Pro-Life Chalk DayEvery year, the pro-life message reaches hundreds of thousands of people in the simplest of ways, sidewalk chalking. This small but powerful tool has been used to share the truth about abortion, get the word out about pregnancy resources, and help men and women who have had experiences with abortion find help and healing. And it’s FUN!
With a handful of chalk and an arsenal of pro-life slogans, you can leave a lasting impression on hundreds or even thousands of people.
Step 1: Pick up sidewalk chalk (Walmart, drug stores, Hobby Lobby)
Step 2: Collect your pro-life friends (this is optional, but helpful)
Step 3: Find a heavily trafficked public area
Step 4: Chalk short pro-life messages in large letters everywhere

Oct. 27Share Your Family DayOn this day, share yourself and your family with someone. Visit a friend, a relative, a nursing home resident or someone at Hills & Dales, etc. – use your imagination. Deliver cookies to an elderly neighbor or call someone you appreciate and tell them so. Do you know of someone who may be lonely? Someone you haven’t seen for a long time? Someone you owe an apology to? Babysit for a young mother; invite your pastor to dinner. Make someone else’s day! You’ll be surprised what it can do for you, too!
