DC Red Dress Run Reminder

posted Jul 27, 2016, 1:09 PM by DC Red Dress   [ updated Aug 25, 2016, 9:16 AM by District 69 ]

***READ IN A SOUTH AFRICAN ACCENT***

'ello, wankers!!

Behold, the 23rd DC Red Dress Run will soon be upon us! It's going to be another epic event in the nation's capital, bringing together 525 of the finest harriers and harriettes in a celebration of flour-power, urban shiggy, beery beverages, and partying with a purpose. Well over half the regos have already gone so don't leave it to the last minute. We're capping the event at a strict 525 - for reals - so now is the time to commit to this delightful night-ful of shenanigans.

But how can you commit without having all the details? You have questions. Lots of questions. Important questions! Like: How much is it? When is it? What does my rego get me? How many trails are there? Where do I sign up? Which charity are we supporting? Where is the hash hotel? How far is the metro? Who is this man and why is he in a ferret suit? We know. Details can be tricksy. So to make it easier, we have compiled a list of FAQ's for your convenience below. Don't worry; it was written slowly as we know you don't read fast:

When is the 23rd DC Red Dress Run taking place?

Saturday, October 8th, 2016
Doors Open at 12:00 pm (11:00 am for VIP's)

Where is the venue and hash hotel?

Our awesome venue this year is the Capitol Skyline Hotel - which, for your convenience, also happens to be the hash hotel. It's classic. It's classy. And it's ours. With an outdoor pool and poolside bar, it's a cool 0.3 miles from the metro and a half mile from the Waterfront. For those of you who want to take in more than just your fair share of amber liquid, it's less than a mile to the National Mall and just over a mile to the Capitol Building, with free shuttles to all major attractions. It's seriously cool.

Did you say Hash Hotel?

Well yes, we did.  To reserve a hotel room, call the Capitol Skyline Hotel at 202--488-7500 and press '0' (instead of '1') and tell them that you are with the “DC Red Dress Run” to get a discounted rate of $199 ($50 off their normal room rate) on October 6th, 7th, or 8th. There’s no minimum number of nights for the discount, so stay for the whole weekend or just one night. Don’t delay, as the discount is only offered up until 30 days prior to our event. After that, rooms will be charged the normal rate.

What will it cost me to join the fun?

All our Super Early Bird Rego's are gone, but we still have 9 Early Bird Rego's ($85 - save $20) and 124 Bird Rego's ($95 - save $10). After that, it's a flat $105.

Where do I go to rego?

Click HERE or go to HashRego.com and look for it.

What do I get for my RDR rego*?

·  13 hours of unabashed fun

·  Schweet selection of beer, cider, and soft drinks

·  RDR gimmes

·  Hab fair

·  Walkers and runners trails

·  Beer check

·  Buffet dinner

·  DJ

·  Dancing on the pool deck

*Shame and bad decisions come standard.

What about the other trails?

You mean the ones happening on Thursday? And Friday? And the 2 on Sunday?? Well, you over-achiever, you should be looking for a Hashtivus rego if you want to save money on all that hashing. For a reduced price, you can get prepaid admission to all 5 trails over the 4 days. But you'd better hustle. We have only the final tier of Hashtivus tickets (+$48) left to sell. Lucky for you, it's still a bargain. (Look out for the Hashtivus option when you rego.)

What if I'm feeling fêncy (said in your best Die Antwoord accent) and don't want to save $$?

Our charity wants to see you make it rain too. This year, we are happy to be working with Miriam's Kitchen, which is dedicated to ending homelessness in the District. Providing a minimum donation of $25 not only makes you $25+ more awesome, it also makes you a VIP, giving you early check-in, a separate food service (shorter lines), the option of wine in addition to our selection of cold beverages, and other shiny things! (Select “Optional Extra Donation to: Miriam's Kitchen" at check out and put in at least $25.)

I like drinking...what about drugs?

Nope. Nope. Nope. Zero tolerance for drugs, folks. Z-E-R-O. Stick with booze. (This message brought to you by RDR Mismanagement).

I have issues that only MM can deal with.

Let's face it. We all got issues. But if the kinds you have are the kinds we can help with, contact MM at dcreddressrun@gmail.com. If not, god's speed.

See you all soon!

On-on!

DC Red Dress Run Registration is Now Open

posted May 1, 2016, 7:38 AM by DC Red Dress

Wankers,

Registration is now open for the 2016 Red Dress Run on Saturday, October 8th at the Capitol Skyline Hotel in Washington DC.  Many of you may remember the events that we held there in 2010 and 2011.  The hotel has recently undergone extensive renovations and really looks great!  Centrally located close to the US Capitol, the venue provides us with banquet space, including an outdoor pool area, along with a reduced rate on hotel reservations.

We will open the registration process using HashRego.com.  You can sign up for a free account, or simply register as a guest.  If you'd like to book a room for the night or several nights, you can call ahead and reserve your hotel room now.  We have reserved a block of 50 rooms.  Simply call the Capitol Skyline Hotel at 202-488-7500 and press '0' (instead of '1') and tell them that you are with the “DC Red Dress Run” to get a discounted rate of $199 ($50 off their normal room rate) on October 6th, 7th, or 8th.  There’s no minimum number of nights for the discount, so stay for the whole weekend or just one night.  Don’t delay, as the discount is only offered up until 30 days prior to our event.  After that, rooms will be charged the normal rate.

In order to ensure that we don’t over-fill the capacity of the banquet space, we will cap registration at 525 people.  We do offer discounted rates for early sign ups, with increasing costs for later registrations.  If you’d like to save some money, sign up early.  We are offering our lowest "super early bird" registration for just $69 for the first 200 people!  We will handle transfers much the same way as we have in the past.  The responsibility however is on the people wishing to transfer their registration.  We'll provide more details in a later message.

We’re also working with other local kennels to offer you a Hashtivus package.  For one discounted price, you can sign up for a Thursday night hash with Everyday is Wednesday, the Full Moon run on Friday evening, and following the RDR, a hangover run with Hangover hash on Sunday morning, and a regular trail run with White House Sunday at 3pm.  Prices for hashtivus packages increase based on how many are sold to support the Full Moon price tiers.  For our Charitable Sponsor, we will provide donations to Miriam’s Kitchen (https://miriamskitchen.org/)  and will offer VIP packages to those contributing $25 or more.

To register, go to:  https://hashrego.com/events/ and look for DC Red Dress Run in the list of events.  Also, when filling out your rego form, you must put a number in the block for charity/VIP.  Even if that number is a zero, you have to manually type something in the block.  Also, once you register, you have to scroll to the bottom of the page to pay.  Using PayPal is super easy.  If you pay by CC, you'll pay the CC fee.

We hope to provide a great event this year, with a great venue and on-site hotel rooms in the heart of our Nation’s Capital.  See you there!

Transfers

We’ve been getting your transfer requests and have posted them to our website. If you’re not on it, then please send an email tomailto:dcreddressrun@dchashing.org and CC the person you want to transfer your registration to. We’ll try to update our transfer list, but when arriving for the event, be sure that you remember WHO you bought your rego from.

Justice Or Else March (Million Man March 20th Anniversary)

Many people have asked us how this event will impact the Red Dress Run. Mainly, it has taken up all the hotel rooms in the area. Many months ago rooms went from $179/night to $289/night and we couldn’t get a better deal with any hotels in downtown DC so we moved across the river – but still on the same metro line.

Also, this event is a serious matter for those who are attending and marching. But we’re not a serious group – so we’re concerned that there could be some conflicts between drunken hashers trying to have a good time, and others who are there to protest for their civil liberties. We plan to be indoors during most of our event, both at the main venue and at the beer check. We’ll be in McPherson Square for opening circle for 30 minutes and then trail(s) will stay north of the Mall to reduce opportunities for our two groups to interact. We only ask that everyone be respectful of others – as we appreciate when others respect us.

Hash Hotel

The Best Western in Rosslyn is sold out on Saturday, but have a few rooms available for Friday night.   There’s also a few rooms available at theInn of Rosslyn and about 30 rooms at the Virginian Suites. All 3 of these hotels are within a stone’s throw of each other – not that anyone will be throwing stones…

Full Moon BLT Masquerade Ball Venue Change

Due to an ongoing legal issue, Cafe Asia Rosslyn will no longer be able to host the Full Moon BLT. Therefore, Full Moon is moving the party to Cafe Asia DC, located at 1720 I St NW, Washington, DC. The new location is a 1/2 block away from Farragut Square – 2 metro stops or a 5 min. cab/Uber/Lyft ride from the Hash Hotel.

You still get beer, shots, food, a giveaway (for the first 300), dancing all night to DJ Beardo, and a chance at that mysterious, scantily clad hasher. But now that the venue is bigger you get more room, more friends, more fun!

DC Red Dress Run Updates!

posted Aug 13, 2015, 4:10 PM by DC Red Dress

Wankers,

We just passed 400 registered participants for the 2015 DC Red Dress Run.  That means that the price will stay at $90 until we get up to 500 registrations, after which the price goes up to $95 until registration closes on October 4th.  There will NOT be any day-of registration – but if there are any walk-ins, the price will be $69,000.  Make a commitment people!!

HOTELS:  We’d also like to announce our hash hotel option for you to consider.  We tried to reserve a block of rooms near The Park, but the price for a room is $289/$299.  We know that you’d rather spend your money in other ways, so we’ve decided to use the Best Western in Rosslyn as our hash hotel.  It’s close to the Rosslyn metro which is on the blue/orange/silver line, same as The Park.  There’s no guaranteed block of rooms or anything, so just call and make your own reservation.  Currently, rooms are going for about $150/night for Oct 9th/10th.  They also offer AAA, military/government, and other discounted rates.  The sooner you book your room, the cheaper it is likely to be.

We also have a few other announcements to make in responding to many questions that we’ve received.

REFUNDS:  Sorry, no refunds.  Sign up early for a discounted price, you take your chances.  BUT… you can transfer your rego.  Send an email to dcreddressrun@dchashing.org and CC the person you want to transfer your registration to.  We’ll try to update our paperwork, but when arriving for the event, be sure that you remember WHO you bought your rego from.  A few weeks before the event, we’ll even post a listing showing who’s transferred their rego’s to who… or to whom!

HASHTIVUS/CHARITY UPGRADES:   We’ve heard from folks who have signed up already, but didn’t buy the hashtivus package and/or didn’t donate to the Yellow Ribbon Fund (and therefore don’t have access to the VIP areas).  Hashspace is setting up separate items that you can purchase from them (we will provide links soon).  Just be sure that you cross-reference your hashtivus/charity to the hashname that you bought your registration for.

VENDOR TABLES:  Due to limited space in the venue, we are unable to accommodate everyone who’d like to set up shop and sell their haberdashery.  If you would like to reserve a table, Email us at dcreddressrun@dchashing.org

Coming up, please be sure to watch for our charity events leading up to the big day.  Also, check out our “King of the Hill” contest – where the largest out-of-town kennel that signs up for RDR wins a prize – be sure to get all your friends to road trip to DC!

The 2015 DC Red Dress Run will be Saturday, October 10, 2015.

We are celebrating our 22nd year of hosting one of the largest hashing events in the country. For this, we celebrate with two 2’s – or tutu’s.

Also, we have a new mismanagement team in place, with many of the former MM providing much needed help and support. A big shout-out to Motor Mouth for everything that he’s done in brining you the DC Red Dress Run over the past 7 years. Also, great thanks (couldn’t have done it without them) to Tooth Fairy, Slurpee, Late Night Drive Through, and Wookin’ Pa Nub – all of whom have contributed lots of time and energy over most of the past 7 years.

We will be at “The Park at Fourteenth” again this year. See: http://park14.com/

We’ll have an amazing beer check, great food, rockin’ music, and more red dresses than you can hope to get into!

2015 DC Red Dress Run Registration

posted Mar 16, 2015, 1:16 PM by DC Red Dress

We wanted to send you a friendly reminder that the 2015 DC Red Dress Run Registration will officially go on sale on April 1st on Hashspace. The DC Red Dress Run will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Park on 14th in Washington DC. This year will be the 22nd running of the DC Red Dress Run, and the theme for this year is “Tutu’s”. Why tutu’s? Try this...”two two’s” for the 22nd year. Ahhh, now you get it.

Here are some preliminary details:

Venue: After a resounding success last year, we have officially signed a contract with “The Park at 14th” in Washington, DC to once again host the DC Red Dress Run. Exact pricing will be announced on April 1st, but remember that the earlier you register, the less you pay.

Hastivus: As in prior years, there will be special Hashtivus pricing. Yes, for one low price, The Hashtivus package includes registration to five DC hashes over the Columbus Day weekend for one price. Even if you only attend 3 of them, you will save money!

Lodging: We are working closely with the venue to provide an excellent hotel discount for this year. Details will be released on April 1st.

We are also still working with the Yellow Ribbon Fund http://www.yellowribbonfund.org/ as our charity for this year. Various fundraisers will be established throughout the year, and YES, we will have the VIP setup again at the venue for those donating $25 or more toward the charity.

DC RDR 2015

posted Jan 30, 2015, 5:07 AM by DC Red Dress   [ updated Jan 30, 2015, 5:10 AM ]

Hashers,

We are truly excited for the 2015 DC Red Dress Run…in fact, we are so excited about this year that we have a few additional announcements in advance of registration.

-           First , Hashtivus is still on this year.   GMs from all the Hashtivus kennels (OTH3, EWH3, WH4, Hangover H3, and Full Moon H3) recently met with Red Dress mismanagement and agreed to continue the great Hashtivus tradition.   Hashtivus registration will be available for those who want to attend the entire weekend activities at a discounted price.

-          At the same meeting, Red Dress mismanagement and the Hastivus kennel GMs agreed that after the past 7 years of great Red Dress Events, it was time for current mismanagement to turn over the reins to a new crop of mismanagement for 2015.  Sincere thanks go out to Wookin Pa Nub, 3-Holer, Late Nite Drive Thru, Slurpee, Tooth Fairy and many others, and a special shout out of thanks goes out to Motormouth, who has been so instrumental in taking Red Dress Run to new levels over these past 7 years.

-          And now we are very excited to announce that the new GM for Red Dress Run 2015 will be…drumroll… JACK-OFF LANTERN.  As founder of Tour Duh Hash in 2007, a long time DC Hasher, former GM of White House and Full Moon H3, and organizer extraordinaire, we are excited about his willingness to become DC Red Dress Run GM, and feel he will help carry on the great traditions of prior mismanagement.   Remaining mismanagement is being formed as we speak, and the past Red Dress Mismanagement has fully committed to assist new mismanagement during this transitional year.

-          You can continue to get updates on our webpage at https://sites.google.com/site/dcreddress/home , or just find our page by going to DC Hashing and clicking on the “Red Dress Run” link.  Registration will be through Hashspace once available.   You can also find information about the DC Red Dress run and Red Dress Runs worldwide athttp://www.reddressruns.org/

Thanks again for your continued support of the biggest and best Hasher Only, Yearly Event in the Country.   OnOn.

Happy New Years and OnOn to New Hash Adventures.

October 10, 2015 – the 22nd Anal DC Red Dress Run

       April 1st, 2015 – Registration officially opens

       https://store.hashspace.com

Venue:  We will be going back to The Park again this year.  Your feedback said they had some of the best food we have ever had, and they didn't kick us out for glitter, so that's our base of operations this year.

Hash Hotel: We spent a lot of time trying to find a more “Hash Friendly” hotel.

We are working with The Resident's Inn Downtown to hold 60 rooms for our guests.  Its only 2 blocks from the venue and they've offered us the best price so far.  Don't reserve yet.  We want to make sure everyone is counted as part of our total and have rooms together.  The room block will open on April 1st.

Charity:  This year's charity is the Yellow Ribbon Fund.  www.yellowribbonfund.org. The Yellow Ribbon Fund provides practical support to injured service members and their families while they’re at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, and after they return to their hometowns. Since their beginning, more than 80 cents of every dollar spent has gone directly to programs and services.   They are a local Bethesda based organization and welcome the chance to work with local area hashers.

“We know that this year is InterAmerica Hash. And we know that you have your choice in Hash Events.  We hope that you again choose the DC Red Dress for all your hashing pleasure. ”

Buy your rego, your room and your airfare early, so you can spread out the charges
