Daniel Chen, who obtained a M.S. in Computer Engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, is currently employed as a research computer engineer in the Coordinated Science Laboratory at University of Illinois.  He is working on projects related to the security and reliability of the power grid. These include the development of a framework for experimental validation of system/application resiliency to errors and attacks. It also includes studying the possible attack vectors by worms, insiders, and hackers and extracts the set of actions that constitute the attacks. Different detection and response strategies are studied by correlating the intrusion detection system alerts and various system logs to better detect and contain such attacks.
