Eme's On-line Photo Album

February 1, 2007

Well, it's been quite awhile since we updated!  So much has happened in the past two months.  Today Dave started his new job at CSL Behring, located in Bourbonnais, IL.  For the next two weeks he will have a long commute from our apartment, but on February 14 we close on a house we found.  It's only 2.5 miles from CSL, so that will greatly improve Dave's commute!  (For pictures of the house, you can click on the link to Eme's on-line photo album).  The house is in great condition; there are only a few aesthetic things that we want to change.

Eme is doing great!  We can't believe how much she's grown.  She had her two month appointment on January 16.  Her shots made her sleepy, which was good because when she was awake she was grouchy!!!  Two big needles in each thigh will do that, I guess!  We also learned that her head circumference was 39.5 cm (the 75th percentile), she weighed 12 lbs 15 oz (between the 90th and 95th percentile), and was 24 inches long (the 95th percentile).  So she's definitely a big girl!

Eme is growing and changing so quickly.  Of course she's as adorable as she's always been, but she now is able to suck her thumb (often slurping loudly).  She's even learned to curl her other fingers down so she doesn't poke herself in the eye!  She also responds to mommy and daddy with big smiles and sometimes even a giggle.  She holds her head up when she lays on her tummy, but doesn't enjoy tummy time all that much.  She reaches for things too, even holding onto light weight toys like her links; she also follows things with her eyes horizontally, vertically, and diagonally.

Eme had her first doctors appointment today.  Everything looks great, except the doctor told Dad that there's not much we can do about staying awake all night.  The car ride made Eme sleepy.

Mom and Emelia received a clean bill of health and were discharged from the hospital today.  Eme took her first car ride, a whole 5 minutes from the hospital to home.

Emelia Grace was born today at 1:31 pm in the University of Chicago Hospital.  She weighed 7 lb, 2.4 oz, and was 21 in long, with lots of dark hair.
