1. TechSmith JingJing, a web-based screen recorder, allows you to record screencasts up to 5 minutes long. Once you are done, you are able to upload to screencast.com or download your video as a .swf file. To make your videos compatible with more devices, you'll probably want to convert them to a mp4 format; consider using Online-Convert or ZamZar to easily accomplish this.

CamStudio is a great tool that is free and open-source. Once you install it on your Windows computer you are ready to start creating your screencasts. You can save your recording as avi or swf.

Screencast-O-Matic is a fantastic tool that will let you record directly form the site. You can record up to 15 minutes and it allows for webcam picture recording. Videos are saved in .mp4, .flv, or .avi video format or you can upload directly to YouTube.

4. Free Online MeetingsIt may be important to have virtual 'office hours' to support your students when they are not in your classroom. Free Screen Sharing provides the ability to have online meetings and share your screen or documents. Chat is enabled in the meeting as well as a phone number that students can call to have the audio of what you are saying. You can get a report after each meeting of who attended, length, etc.
