Fall-Camp out 2015

The Pack enjoyed a phenomenal fall camp-out this year. We returned to the Patuxent River Park in Upper Marlboro where we had not been in a number of year. In fact, most of the Pack's current member had never camped there. Everyone loved the venue. There is tons of space for tents, easy access for the cars, a huge pavilion for meals and meetings, and more. The weekend we were there, the park opened a brand new Native American outdoor exhibit that was super cool. There were examples of structures that would have been used for sleeping, smoking meats and more. There was even a display of wood dugout canoe being constructed.

Friday night did get a bit chilly as it dipped into the upper 30's. The upside was that the cubs actually stayed in their sleeping bags until after 7 am. Woo Hoo!

On Saturday afternoon, the Bears put on the inaugural Bears Carnival - part of the Grin and Bear it adventure. The kids had a great time launching catapults, popping balloons, doing ring toss and winning prizes. Everyone loved it so much, it may well become an annual event.

Saturday night we had a productive Pack meetings. The cubs received their awards and learned about environmental stewardship. An previously unknown bugle player named Mp3, performed a first rate version of taps. Everyone had fun roasting S'mores and playing flashlight tag.

It started to rain as we ere packing up Sunday morning, but it didn't dampen our spirits. If it ain't damp, It ain't camp - right?
