Looking for info on the 1823 Davidson County marriage of Samuel JACKSON and Franky TENNISSON. Need to know Jackson's background (related to Andrew in any way?), and Franky's origin of birth, and whether or not she was a Cherokee. Did TN permit intermarriages at that time? Would greatly appreciate any information.

Mary V. MARTIN b. about 1800 married Joseph HOUSTON (HUGHSTON)who d. April 14, 1832 in Lawrence County Alabama. Mary moved back to Lincoln County, TN with her 5 children where she had married Joseph and lived for a few years before moving to Alabama. She remarried in LCT September 7, 1848 to Thomas H. McGAUGH. According to Thomas's will probated in Lincoln County, he had provided for his first wife, Cathrine, who had preceeded him in death but no mention is made of Mary. Mary McGAUGH is isted as houskeeper age 60 (this would be her age) on the Davidson County 1860 census. There was an asterick beside her name meaning she was not the only one in the household. I would like to know the other occupants of the household and pertinent information. Her father George MARTIN (supposedly a Dr.) died around 1843. According to father's will probated in Lincoln County in 1843, her siblings were: S. George MARTIN, William J. H. MARTIN, Martha J. A. Martin, Celia Ann MARTIN, Robert MARTIN, Elizabeth M. L. MARTIN, & C. K. L. MARTIN who was deceased before his father's will dated Nov. 1840. I would love any information on this branch of Martin family and Mary's date of death and burial place if possible. Thank you.

I am interested in any information on a Thomas WESTBROOK that lived in Davidson County Tennessee in the late 1700s to the early 1800s. He supposedly was born in 1767 and died in Sangamon County Illinois in 1836. I believe this to be true but have no proof that he is the same Thomas WESTBROOK. One of his sons is supposed to be Deberryman (Berry) Westbrook who lived in Illinois, then to Missouri and Iowa. Deberryman was born about 1811 and probably had a brother Littleton and others. Littleton and Deberryman married sisters: Edy and Sarah MEADS. Would appreciate any information on these families. Was Thomas Westbrook a brother of Samuel Westbrook of the same area?

GULLEDGE Seeking data on the ancestors and descendants of William GULLEDGE who died intestate in Davidson County in 1825. Some speculate that this William Gulledge was a descendant of an earlier William Gulledge of Surry County, VA. This William Gulledge migrated with his brother Edward from Surry County to Edgecombe County, NC. Edward Gulledge established a Gulledge line in Anson County, NC that has been well researched. However, little is known of William’s line. He is reported by some to have had a son William who left a will in Halifax County, NC, dated 31 Oct 1778. In the will he left realty to his son “Briton” (Brittain?) and directed that the remainder of his estate be divided equally “between all my children.” The identity of the other children remains unknown to me. Some of my cousins and I SPECULATE that one of these unknown children was another William Gulledge who left Halifax Co. for the Nashville, TN area, and that this William fathered at least three daughters, viz.: Nancy, Rebecca, and Tabitha. (A Frederick, John and William Gulledge were identified in the report on the sale of William Gulledge’s estate in Davidson County, TN, in 1825). Nancy Gulledge died unmarried leaving a will dated 23 Aug 1848; Tabitha married a man named Dar; and Rebecca married William Carney. Rebecca Gulledge and William Carney were my g-g- g-grandparents. Unfortunately, the connection between Rebecca Gulledge and the William Gulledge originally from Surry County, VA, is just as described – speculation. Any information dealing with the foregoing would be most appreciated

I am looking for info on my 3- ggrandfather, John Gray. He died in Nashville in October 1865 and is buried in Old City Cemetery. According to a map provided by the Metro Archives, John is buried "opsit" Gen. F. K. Zollikofer. We traveled to Nashville and found the Zollikofer family plot, but no marker for John. My questions are: Is John buried IN the Zollikofer family plot and why? Where did he live in Nashville? John was 59 yrs old at the time of his death. He and his wife, Elizabeth, had sold their home in Niles, Michigan, in 1863 and moved to Nashville. I have written to a descendant of Gen. Zollikofer, but never received a reply. I am searching for information on the family of H.B. OLD(S). His family lived in Lavernge or Couchville. His wife was LOUISA SULLIVAN, daughter of JOEL SULLIVAN, of the same area. Their daughter MAUDE OLD(S) married JAMES HEADDEN whose uncle EDWIN AIKEN HEADDEN was a teacher and businessman in the Couchville area. Most of the Olds and Sullivans were buried in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. I believe the cemetery was moved to Mt. Joliet when the Percy Priest Dam was built - so I was told. Does anyone know where the cemetery was moved to in Mt. Juliet?

Elizabeth Robertson  Sun Jan 10 14:14:35 1999

I am searching for a "missing branch" of my husband's family tree. I have his lineage beginning with WILLIAM HENRY ROBERTSON, born between 1790 and 1795. on down to our children. I was told by an aunt, now deceased, that JAMES ROBERTSON, founder of Nashville, was my husband's ancester. I also have a lineage beginning with JOHN ROBERTSON, an exile of Scotland, down to CHARLOTTE and JAMES ROBERTSON'S eleven children. I believe that one of their sons, probably either JONATHAN or JAMES RANDOLPH (because of the years of their birth or death) or grasping at straws, even PEYTON, could be the missing "branch" of our family tree. If, as we have been told, the founder of Nashville, JAMES ROBERTSON is our ancestor, one of those sons would be our WILLIAM HENRY'S father. If anyone can help me find this missing branch, I'd be forever grateful.
