Complete restoration of mid-1800's Lincoln rocker

posted Sep 15, 2012, 10:04 AM by David Reiff

The "Lincoln" rocker was owned by our client's mother and she brought it in to be completely restored so that she could use it with her new born baby. The project involved essentially tearing down the chair to the bare wood. The raw wood was stripped, lightly sanded and stained. Several minor repairs were done and areas re-tightened. Then the chair was then sprayed and ready for new upholstrey.

We re-installed the seat bottom and back webbing. Then new springs were installed that were eight-way hand tied and followed by a burlap cover and filled with top-quality new foam, cotton and dacron. At this point the chair was ready for our clients fabric to match her nursery, the final touch.

Her quote from FaceBook: "Our Lincoln Rocker looks amazing! Thank you, Federal Hill Restorations, for the quality work. We can't wait to rock our baby to sleep."
