David De Roure's Page of Pages

David De Roure is Professor of e‑Research at University of Oxford, based in the Oxford e-Research Centre (Department of Engineering Science). He is also a Turing Fellow at the Alan Turing Institute, researching data science and music, including the use of AI in composition. David serves as an advisor for the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) in new forms of data and realtime analytics.

With a background in electronics and computer science, David's career has involved many interdisciplinary collaborations including chemistry, astrophysics, bioinformatics, social computing, digital libraries and archives, sensor networks, and cyber security. His current research is in Computational Musicology, Web Science (Social Machines), and Internet of Things. He is responsible for Digital Humanities at Oxford, and is a frequent speaker and writer on digital scholarship and the future of our knowledge infrastructure.
