Important update - 9th September 2023

Since I moved over to the new Sites format,  Google restricts access to the files and sends me a request to grant access . I am looking for a way to resolve this as it requires me to respond to a large number of requests. Be patient!

Intro

Welcome to the Datong Archive. This is an unofficial resource for manuals and any information that you would like to send me for supporting old Datong amateur radio gear.

There is also a Google email discussion group, datongarchive to chat about things related to this equipment.

You can find your way around via the navigation menu on the left side of the pages. Or you can use the search facility at the top of the page.

History

As far as I can recall, Datong started making amatur radio products in the late 1970s, the name DATONG coming from the name of the founder, Dr. David A Tong.   I remember the early RFC RF clipper modules, followed by the FL1 audio filter. They then sold on their amateur product rights at some point in the 1990s. There is no longer any support available.

Response

I emailed Datong in 2004 with a request for information and this was their response:

"Thank you for your email unfortunately we did not retain any of the circuit information when we ceased manufacture of the amateur product range some years ago. Of the products that we sold on to Lowe Electronics most were with circuit information but Lowe do not offer a support service. As we now concentrate on other product areas we did not retain other circuits when we moved offices."

So that's it.
