Method of Molding client Expectations and Desires

The Data Site Consortium has identified the following task sequence, which we generally repeat at the start of each major project, and which has proven effective in achieving the desired project outcomes within budgetary and other known limitations.

 

Project Initiation

  • Conduct kickoff meeting
  •   Present DSC approach, scope, expectations, timelines, and deliverables
  • Introduce key consulting staff members
  • Introduce the appropriate Client Project members
  • Achieve consensus on roles, responsibilities, objectives, and cost goals
  • Identify key stakeholders (users, vendors, other agencies, etc.)
  • Publish minutes for this (and all future) DSC conducted meetings
  • Produce copies of work documents

  • Current situation analysis
  • Inventory existing systems
  • Interview key stakeholders
  • Survey user community
  • Identify budgetary constraints and budget reporting
  • Research and present the appropriate technology roadmap
  • Conduct visioning session
  • Document desired future technology systems
  • Prioritize technology goals
  • Facilitate gap analysis
  • Facilitate goals and objectives documentation
  • Facilitate action plan generation
  • Publish the appropriate draft plan
  • Chart the cost allocations for activity based costing, cost recovery, network management accounting, and productivity measurement.
  • Facilitate committee review
  • Revise and publish the appropriate final plan
