Club History

History before moving to new lake in 2011

The club was formed in 2007, by a long-standing small group of radio control enthusiasts from the Plymouth and East Cornwall areas. Initially a group of modelers with stand off scale schooners and one or two International One Meters (IOMs), who sailed and raced for the sheer fun of it. This group grew steadily to include modellers, past and present full size yachtsmen all with a common interest. The club meet on Wednesdays and Saturdays, weather dependent, for a few hours social sailing with a bit of racing added in for good measure.

With the introduction of the racing rules several race series are organised thought out the year providing the competitive members of the club with close racing.

With an every increasing number of people gathering on Saturdays and the threat that the lake was to be sold to a local angling club, it was decided to form a club and join the MYA to further expand our involvement in model yacht racing.

In 2011 the owners of Cadover lake decided to convert the lake so it would be more suitable for their fishing, this was further incentive to look for a new home. Fortunately we were able to lease a new lake from Sibelco less than a mile away. This lake is approximately 90m x 50m
