I am a Professor (W2) in Health Management at the University of Cologne in the Department of Business Administration and Health Care Management and I hold a part-time position at the Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management of the Erasmus University Rotterdam.
My research focuses on incentives and the interaction of participants in health care markets. More specifically, I am interested in how monetary and non-monetary incentives and social and economic preferences affect health behaviors and physician decision making. My research has been published in international outlets such as Management Science, the Journal of Health Economics, Health Economics, Medical Decision Making, and Social Science and Medicine.
Currently, I am principal investigator at the Excellence Center for Social and Economic Behavior (C-SEB) and a board member of the interdisciplinary Center for Health Services Research Cologne (ZVFK) at the University of Cologne. Also, I am heading the working group “Allokation & Verteilung” of the German Health Economics Association (dggö), and I am a co-founder and a member of the management board of the Behavioral Experiments in Health Network.
