We have teams in many sports at Dangan National School. Every year we participate in these sports: Boys Gaelic Football, Girls Gaelic football, GAA Mini-7's, FUTSAL (3rd and 4th class pupils only), FAIS 5-a-sides in soccer, Cross-Country, Hurling, Rounders, and Showjumping. School Year 2013-2014: Gaelic Football: The Boys reached their final, where they played well but sadly lost to Castlejordan. The Girls won 2 group games, but did not advance.School Year 2011-2012: The Boys GAA team reached the semi-final of their competition despite injuries to key players;The Girls GAA team did very well by becoming Meath Champions; The Boys Futsal team got to their final; and the Girls Futsal team reached their semi-final only to lose to a Golden Goal in extra-time. The Cross-Country Teams did very well: the Senior Girls came first in Meath with an overall score of just 21, with three finishers (Emelie, Emma, and Sophia) in the top 10. The Showjumping Team have competed in three shows so far, coming 2nd, 4th, and 6th; ending the season 4th of 8 teams overall, with an individual first place. In the FAIS 5-a-sides, we qualified both a Boys team and a Girls team for the finals day, the first time ever we have achieved this feat. In the GAA Mini-7s Competitions, Dangan Boys achieved a unique double by winning both the Hurling and the Football titles. |
