This letter comes to you with the hope of gaining your support for St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Damar once again. We want to thank all of you who purchased tickets or gave a donation last year. Although, the cost of this year’s meal has been generously donated by K of C Insurance Field Agent, Justin Deges, your donations are needed to help defray other costs of the Bazaar.
Each year, the time for the Bazaar comes around entirely too quickly and we realize we have no choice but to persevere with this project to allow us to continue to exist. Along with that comes the unfortunate task of asking for your help again. We know you each have your own home parishes to support as well; therefore we fully understand if you are not able to give this year.
If you would like to help this year, we would appreciate your support through the purchase of a raffle ticket or a cash donation. We have, as promised, made major repairs to our church but the work is ongoing. The church was recarpeted, restrooms were remolded with new fixtures, hot water heater, baby changing station, and new paint and tile flooring. Restrooms are now Handicapped Accessible. Improvements outside include repainting the hand rails, removal of old trees, moved the marker (in memory of the unborn) to the front of the church and added new landscaping and shrubs. More repairs to outside of the church have been completed, like water proofing, tuck pointing, and exterior painting. The latest project that is nearing completion is the Air Conditioning of the Church and basement, and updating the electrical wiring. A security system, and fire and smoke detection systems were also installed. The copper roof is in need of repair from storm damage. We have repaired some storm damage to the Rectory and have done some updating to the interior. New windows are going to be installed upstairs in the Rectory, due to water damage. As you can imagine, the cost of improvements add up and that is why the Bazaar is so important.
Our goal has been to make St. Joseph’s Homecoming Bazaar an annual event so it can help with these repairs and other improvements that are still being completed. The Bazaar also helps with the insurance premium each year. Insurance for the church costs over $12,000 each year. This puts a strain on a smaller but determined parish. Thanks to this yearly bazaar, your donations, and all those who come and share this evening with us, we can proudly and thankfully say that every year has been a HUGE success and a wonderful night with friends and family. What a joy it is, in knowing that our contributions are helping to preserve what so many of you consider part of your own history.
We pray for each of you and your continued good health, and appreciate your consideration of our parish. If you have any questions or comments you can email email@example.com. If you decide to purchase raffle tickets you can mail your tickets and/or donations to:
